Privacy Policy

Last updated 2 June 2026

This policy explains what information CogDojo collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to keep it plain and honest — the same way we treat the science behind the app.

1. Who we are

CogDojo is a brain-training app that helps you measure and motivate your training over time. This policy covers the CogDojo mobile app, this website, and the signed-in web dashboard (together, the “Service”). When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means the team that operates CogDojo.

2. What data we collect

We collect the smallest amount of data needed to run the Service and show you honest measurements of your training:

  • Account information: The email address and password you use to register, and a display name if you set one.

  • Age bracket: The age range you provide at sign-up. We use it only to place you in the right peer-comparison group — we do not need your exact date of birth, and we do not collect data from anyone under 13.

  • Game sessions: For each session you play: which game, when, how long, your score, accuracy, and the difficulty the app served you.

  • Progress and scores: Derived measurements such as your per-skill Elo ratings, your Brain Fitness Index over time, streaks, and your peer percentile.

  • Basic device and log data: Standard technical information — app version, device type, and error logs — used to keep the Service working and to fix bugs.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used to provide the measurement and motivation features that are the point of CogDojo. Specifically, we use it to:

  • Compute your Brain Fitness Index — a 0–100 score that is a weighted average of your six category Elo ratings.

  • Show your trends over time so you can see how your training is going.

  • Place you in a peer-comparison group by age bracket and calculate your percentile and band (for example, “Above average” or “Calibrating”).

  • Adapt the difficulty of each game to your current level.

  • Keep your account secure, provide support, and fix problems.

CogDojo is built around engagement, habit, and measurement. We do not use your data to make medical claims or diagnoses, and we do not claim the Service prevents or treats any condition.

4. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. Peer comparison only ever uses aggregated, anonymous statistics about age brackets — never another person's identifiable results.

5. Sharing with service providers

We share data only with the service providers we need to run CogDojo — for example, cloud hosting and error monitoring. These providers act on our instructions, handle your data only to provide their service to us, and are bound to keep it confidential. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress data for as long as your account is active, so your trends and history remain available to you. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal obligations.

7. Your rights — export and delete

You are in control of your data. In line with the GDPR and similar laws, you can:

  • Access and export: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a portable format.

  • Correct: Fix inaccurate account details from your profile.

  • Delete: Delete your account and associated personal data.

  • Object or restrict: Object to, or ask us to limit, certain processing.

You can export or delete your data from your account settings in the CogDojo app, or by emailing us at [email protected]. We respond to requests within the timeframes the law requires.

8. Children

CogDojo is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to notify you if something goes wrong.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.

We keep this short and human on purpose. If anything here is unclear, ask us — clear answers are part of the deal.
